The shift has been swift. Three years ago, AI-assisted coding meant a tool suggesting the next function or variable name. This evolution has compressed development cycles from weeks to hours, enabling rapid prototyping and democratizing software creation across non-technical teams.

But this democratization comes at a cost. Second, organizations need 'AI governance champions' who understand both the technology and the regulatory landscape. They can develop checklists, templates, and testing protocols tailored to AI-assisted development.
Third, technical controls are essential. Runtime monitoring, explainability tools, and model validation can help reveal how the AI reached a particular output. Coupled with traditional code review, these tools create a safety net.
Finally, a culture shift is required. Teams should document prompts, decisions, and deviations as thoroughly as they would document code changes. This documentation provides an audit trail and supports incident analysis.
The productivity gains from vibe coding are too significant to ignore—but so are the risks. Enterprises that fail to adapt their governance models may find that the speed of AI outpaces their ability to control it. The path forward is not to abandon the technology, but to embed governance into every stage of the AI-assisted development lifecycle.
